Starbounder unleash dog8/28/2023 Over the years, my family has had multiple scary encounters with unleashed dogs - most with dogs that were with or near their humans or their homes. I wish that was an isolated incident, but it wasn’t. Even if you’re sure your dog wouldn’t come unhinged in the same way, please think about how loose dogs - friendly or not - can trigger fear and trauma in those who have been attacked or chased or cornered in the past. I cried most of the rest of that day, my pregnant-mama brain thinking obsessively about what could have happened. After a couple of minutes, the dogs’ owner heard the snarling and called the animals off. In that short time, another dog joined the first and they circled him on either side, working as a team, calculating how to bring him down. The realtor and I made our way to the house and James stayed behind to allow us an escape. When I was eight months pregnant, my partner and I were viewing a home with our realtor when a snarling dog charged through a fence and ran towards us. The dog stood his ground several feet from my bare legs, snapping and lunging my partner, James, whispered for us to walk back to the house. But I do wish that you would consider how not leashing your pet impacts me and lots of other people. And, even if there were, no one thinks their dog would ever be the one to unexpectedly go off on a child or adult or someone else’s pet. It’s impossible to explain my fear to every stranger with a dangling leash, though there is no time to convey my worry and its origins. If I stop to change course when I see a loose dog, I’m seen as a dog-hating jerk. And in an instant, the disregarded leash law is no longer the problem - my palpable fear is. “She’s big but she’s friendly,” you say about your unleashed dog when you see me freeze.

Hoat coolant brands8/28/2023 Mixing OAT and IAT-type coolants doesn’t make them into one super coolant nor does it boost their individual benefits. Never mix two different coolant types together. Heat and traffic are the enemies of the engine, so keeping your car’s engine cooling system in top shape is key if you want to keep your car out of the mechanic’s service bay. In addition, here in the Philippines where the climate is usually hot and where cars usually idle in standstill traffic, it's not a bad idea to have your system flushed a little earlier than recommended. If for some reason you don’t have a manual on hand, you can always check online for a copy of your car’s owner’s manual or head over to your local dealer and consult them about your vehicle.Īs a rule of thumb, always check the label of the coolant container if it's suitable for your car, regardless if it's the same color or not. You can find the manufacturer's recommended fluid in your car’s manual. When replacing your car’s coolant, always refer to the manufacturer's recommended fluids, the same goes for every other vital fluid in your car, even fuel. This coolant type is present in major European, Asian, and German brand vehicles. HOAT coolant is recommended to be flushed out and replaced every five years or about 241,000 km. These hybrid coolants come in yellow, turquoise, pink, blue, or even purple colors. On top of that, additives are also present in this coolant to prevent rust from forming. The term hybrid is used because HOAT coolant has added silicates that increase aluminum protection from corrosion. These are a mix of IAT and OAT coolants used in some new cars. OAT-type coolants are now used by a majority of car manufacturers worldwide, so if you’re driving around a recently manufactured car, chances are that it likely uses Organic Acid Technology coolant. While it’s possible to get away with using this coolant for older vehicles, you should check your owner’s manual or consult with a local dealer or an experienced mechanic to ascertain if it's safe to use in order to prevent breaking vital engine components and clogs. OAT coolant or antifreeze is recommended to be flushed every 10 years or about 217,000 km. Organic Acid Technology or Organic Additive Technology uses Carboxylic acids instead of silicates and phosphates to inhibit corrosion. The coolant of this type typically comes in shades of pink, orange, bright red, blue, and dark green. OAT-type coolant can be found in newer cars sold around the world. In short, older cars would prefer this coolant, but availability could be an issue. If you own a car like the Ford Granada V6 or other American cars that are about the same age, this is the kind of coolant that goes with it. IAT coolants are outdated by today's standards and were used by American brands like GM, Chrysler, and Ford in their vehicles manufactured before the mid-1990s. This coolant contained silicates and phosphate corrosion inhibitors to protect the metal parts it comes in contact with like the engine and radiator, these coolants need to be flushed every two years or about 4800 km. IAT-type coolants came in bright green or blue colors. If the coolant your engine uses is unavailable in your area, there are universal coolant variants available that could match your vehicle’s requirements or at least come close to it.Ĭoolants of this type were commonly used by cars produced in America from 1920 all the way to 1990. There are three different types of engine coolant out there with different properties and uses, some vehicles, especially newer models, can only use a certain type of coolant so pay attention to what kind you’re getting. Never, ever choose your car’s coolant solely based on its color, but, knowing what these colors mean will be helpful in determining the one that you should put in your car. Contacts journal crm ipa8/28/2023 Since the dish is quite fiery, we go to New England for the beer pairing with Unsung’s Cygnus Hazy IPA a west coast IPA would have intensified the situation. The dinner’s inspiration comes from a few regions of India, and the western coastal area called Goa is where dish number two is popular: Shrimp Balchao is served on a thin crispy sheet of rice paper with some cooling avocado raita drizzled on top. The light body of the beer has some dank and earthy hop notes that play well with the pani-popper. We all drop the shot into the shell, pop it in our pie holes, then voila… chase it down with Unsung’s Session IPA, Short Round. Pani Puri isn’t anything like a mani pedi.īack to the Pani Puri, which is essentially a light and crispy shell on top of a shot glass filled with potato and tamarind mint water, I don’t think anyone expected such a fun start. I worked with Unsung owner Michal Crea to make sure five fresh IPAs would be available for the event, then a few weeks later, here we all are seated family style at a cozy table as the sunset glows down the historic Anaheim train tracks. It was truly fun to watch her creativity spark as she feverishly scribbled down the menu in a well-worn journal. I mean, IPA literally means India Pale Ale, so why not?Ī few weeks prior, chef-owner of Adya, Shachi Mehra, and I discussed the menu, the flow of dish intensity, and hop notes for each IPA. I also really wanted to prove that an all-IPA beer dinner can work quite well, given the right beer-drinking chef and cuisine combination. But here I am, on the rails in Anaheim’s Packing District at Adya, somehow reenacting a scene from Wes Anderson’s Darjeeling Limited with a shot of Pani Puri and an Unsung Brewing session IPA to start.įull disclosure, like a learned Indian parent, I arranged this marriage of unlikely bedfellows, for no better reason than to have a fun event during OCBeerWeek. If you told me five years ago that Orange County would have a beer dinner on the bed of a train featuring the fresh Indian flavors of Adya restaurant paired with beers made 50-feet away, I’d be quick to recommend a good therapist. Euphoria wellness weedmaps8/28/2023 Claiming to be “only minutes from the airport,” it’s easy for the dispensary to market itself as the first and last stop for consumers traveling in and out of the city. The Grove Las Vegas relies on the convenience of its location as a major selling point. The location and unassuming design seem to be a testament to the power of keeping it simple and focusing on nurturing existing customers rather than trying to adapt constantly to the latest trends. The dispensary is known by reviewers for its friendly atmosphere, convenient location, and reasonable prices. The Strip-adjacent dispensary has leaned heavily into the tourism aspect of cannabis in Sin City, centering the brand on providing recommendations for restaurants, hotels, landmarks, and cannabis-friendly locations that extend the budtender-customer interactions beyond … well, you know. Other than the standard adult-use dispensary offerings like online ordering, daily deals, and branded merchandise, Beyond Hello stands out among its Las Vegas competition by taking its name seriously. Owned by multistate operator Jushi Holdings We’ve rounded up 10 of the most popular Vegas-based dispensaries that appear to excel at connecting in ways that motivate consumers to write about their positive experiences, providing a variety of winning tips and examples for any dispensary owner to consider implementing. Typeface released in 19948/28/2023 Sample text in Tahoma (orange) superimposed atop a sample in Verdana (blue), the latter of which’s characters have been scaled down to 93% of their initial width. To illustrate just how similar these two fonts are, here’s the letter a as it appears in both, superimposed atop of one another: What’s curious is that these two are essentially the same font, just adjusted for on-screen legibility differently-or, perhaps more accurately, to a different extent. To that end, Matthew’s final package included both a serif font (none other than the beautiful Georgia) as well as the two sans serif fonts we are looking at today. The Microsoft-commissioned package of fonts was one of the first – if not the very first – attempts at creating fonts optimized for display rather than print addressing issues such as legibility, kerning, letter spacing, and more as affected by the nature of the medium they would be displayed on (a color CRT monitor, for home users probably capable of producing a maximum resolution of 1024×768 but typically only SVGA/800×600 with an approximately 13″ diagonal) and its salient characteristics: an extremely low DPI (65-100 ppi), wholly different reading distances from printed text, zero literal ink bleed but plenty of “CRT fuzz,” poor RGB convergence, scan line artifacts, and pixels formed of individual RGB subpixel components (especially with the then-recent arrival of primitive LCD displays on the scene). The purpose of this commission was to create a package of fonts that could be used for a variety of purposes sharing a common theme: all were meant to be primarily rendered/displayed on a computer screen rather than in print – a fairly novel concept for the font foundry titans of the era. Both Verdana and Tahoma were introduced in Windows 95, as part of the collection of fonts commissioned by Microsoft for “the new PC era,” and designed by the legendary Matthew Carter of Georgia 3 fame and then hinted to absolute pixel-perfection by Tom Rickner of the Monotype Type Foundry. We can check this by dropping the size of the Verdana sample down to 10.5pt from its original 11pt to give us characters with approximately the same or even a little smaller in width as compared to those in the Tahoma sample, making it clear that there’s more to the variations in the line widths than that:īefore we dig deeper into the differences between the two fonts, let’s take a step back and explore their origins and design motivations. Solely factoring in the larger width of the symbols in the Verdana font sample does not account for the extra word’s worth of x-spacing taken up by the second line. The differences don’t stop there, however. While it’s hard to immediately point out any structural differences between the characters, this image quickly gives us our first major hint as to the difference between these two popular fonts: the second sample is just simply bigger and a hair heavier, almost as if it were a “Tahoma Medium” if you will, rather than another font altogether. Putting aside all discussion of any hinting issues (which you may notice on one line more than the other), 2 there are some uncanny likenesses between the two. Here are two lines of text, one in each of the two fonts in question: 1 If any fonts ever deserved scrutiny and attention, it’s these two. Yet, these are two of the most popular online fonts, and have aged significantly well considering they share corporate roots with Comic Sans and Arial. But ask them what’s the difference between Tahoma and Verdana, and you might just be surprised by the ensuing silence. Ask your favorite typophile about the difference between Arial and Helvetica, and you’re sure to regret it… unless you have a latent appreciation for the differences between font faces, the attention given to kerning and hinting, and more. Youtunes music8/28/2023 Update: Tempted to drop to 2 stars because the “radio station” function has gotten worse. Good ideas but below average in a couple areas In addition I don’t want to have the playlist open all the time, because if I touch my phone then it will interrupt what’s playing and jump 20 songs ahead on the playlist. I would like to know what the next song is going to be so I can know if the playlist it loads is one that I like or if I’m gonna have to quickly go in there and make modifications. How this makes things more difficult is because when you initially load a song, the app generates a playlist. In order to see the next song that’s going to play you know need to go into that menu which is it an extra step you didn’t have to do before. That menu could just as easily be on the top. Instead they’ve added a menu on the bottom of items that aren’t used to constantly. So while I’d like the app in the past a recent update to the app changed the interface so you can no longer see the next song that’s about to play. Interface change was unnecessary, and makes it harder to use. Subscriptions and auto-renewal may be managed by going to Account Settings after purchase. Gameranger saints row 28/28/2023 Characters are witty, mean and always willing to throw out an insult to an innocent passerby. Unlike the first Saints, SR2 keeps most of the voice acting at a very high level. So while the off-the-wall activities are what earn you respect to be able to play the main story missions, it's the campaign where players will have the most fun. There's still the more mundane racing and helicopter assault, but having the option of going outside the box is great. SR2's activities are more outlandish than in the first game, but they're also more varied. Sadly in SR2 on PC these sequences are terribly marred by performance issues. Driving down the highway on a flaming ATV, exploding cars to extend your timer or throwing your limp body into oncoming traffic to rack up a medical bill are things that you just don't see in other videogames. It's in that ridiculous nature that Saints Row 2 would have really found its niche. They're all just as fun and outrageous as the next. There's the all-new Trail Blazer and Septic Avenger or you can try out the analog stick-based sex mini-game. And with that freedom comes a plethora of activities and diversions to try out. Instead, the whole city of Stilwater is available to you from the get-go. There's no unlocking of islands or other boroughs. I'ma bust a cap in your water tower!Īfter you complete the first few tasks, the game really opens up. Instead, you're breaking out of prison, hopping on the back of a gunboat and going to town on some pursuing copters and police boats. There's not much of a tutorial and you aren't doing menial tasks like taking someone's girlfriend to eat and then back to her house. The beginning of Saints Row 2 is actually a bit more engaging than your typical open world game. That means reclaiming your old stomping grounds and getting a few lieutenants to govern your peons. Of course, once you're done creating your evil concoction, it's time to bust out of prison, free your long-time running mate Johnny Gat and then build the Saints back into the prominent gang that they once were. It's hilarious to strap the hot dog suit or the Borat bathing suit on your character and then watch some of the more dramatic cutscenes. Plus, later in the game you'll earn new personalities, taunts, costumes and fighting styles. You can select from three female accents and three male accents as well as the usual huge array of physical traits. Luckily, that happens to open the door to the robust character customization. Your character has been in a prison hospital stuck in a coma since he (or she) was blown off of a yacht, thus badly burning his (or her) exterior. Saints 2 picks up a few years after the events of the first. The core gameplay is the same, but the general performance basically kills the experience. In other words, it was nauseating and almost unplayable. Even on my Intel Core2Quad 2.4 GHz with 2GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX, and a Vista 32 operating system, the game ran between twenty and seven frames per second and had a host of other performance issues. For whatever reason the PC version absolutely chugs. Or at least, what would have been a crazy good time if not for the game's poor coding on PC. What does that translate to in terms of quality? A crazy good time. In fact, Saints Row 2 takes GTA's gameplay, turns it on its side and sends it rolling down a mountain filled with land mines, roving monster trucks and ninjas. Thankfully this is one imitator that turns out to be much more than a straight carbon copy. AuthorWrite something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview. ArchivesCategories |
